Allwyn, a lottery provider, has secured a substantial €2.15 billion ($2.51 billion) syndicated credit facility. This financing, provided by a consortium of international banks, will fuel the company’s expansion plans.
The new facility replaces a prior €1.7 billion syndicated credit facility, €1.2 billion of which had already been drawn down. The €2.15 billion comprises various loan types: €900 million in bullet term loans, €500 million in delayed drawdown term loans, €400 million in amortizing term loans, and a €350 million multi-currency revolving credit facility. The funds will be used to settle the remaining balance of the previous loan and support ongoing growth initiatives.
Bullet term loans, the largest portion (€900 million) of the new financing, require repayment, including interest, at the end of the loan term – in this case, five and a half years.
Allwyn’s CFO, Kenneth Morton, expressed satisfaction with the transaction’s reception, noting increased participation from existing banks and new lenders. He stated that the syndication underscores the company’s strong creditworthiness and strategic confidence. He further highlighted Allwyn’s diversified access to capital markets, enabling favorable pricing and terms across various instruments and currencies. This latest financing, following successful repricing of existing USD and EUR Term Loan B issuances earlier in the year, represents a proactive approach to capital structure management, lowering interest expenses and extending maturity profiles.
Allwyn’s Q1 2025 report indicated a pro rata net debt of €3.8 billion. The second quarter of 2025 has been active for Allwyn, including receiving official certifications from the European Lotteries and World Lottery Association in early April, and the launch of its e-instant games in Washington, D.C., by its North American subsidiary later that month. However, the company is currently facing scrutiny from the UK Gambling Commission, which launched an investigation into Allwyn’s acquisition of the UK National Lottery license.
