A new trade association for sports betting and online gaming operators will be formed in São Paulo, Brazil. This organization, to be named the Union of Betting Operators and Online Games of the State of São Paulo (Sindbet/SP), will serve as the official voice of the industry, facilitating communication and collaboration with government bodies and regulators.
Membership will be restricted to companies demonstrably operating within São Paulo state. Applicants must provide comprehensive documentation, including business registration, legal representation verification, and proof of active business operations within the state.
The impetus for this union comes amidst a period of significant regulatory change, expansion, and increasing formal organization within Brazil’s gambling sector. The founding assembly has been convened by representatives from Sol Serviços de Intermediação, Betboom, and Stake Brazil.
The assembly, which will be held in a hybrid format (both in-person and online), will address key issues including the formal establishment of Sindbet/SP, ratification of its bylaws, and the election of its initial leadership and oversight committees. The geographical scope of the union’s influence will also be defined.
This initiative underscores the growing trend among Brazilian gaming companies to establish stronger collective representation at both the state and national levels. This development comes against the backdrop of concerns raised by Brazilian football clubs over potential limitations on betting advertisements, which they argue could severely impact sponsorship income.
