Three leading Philippine integrated resorts (IRs) – Solaire Resort, Newport World Resorts, and Okada Manila – have jointly reaffirmed their commitment to adhering to all Philippine gaming regulations as they expand their online operations. In a statement released on July 11th, the operators emphasized their strict compliance with responsible gaming practices, anti-money laundering (AML) protocols, and data protection laws mandated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
The operators clarified that their digital platforms are considered extensions of their land-based operations, operating under stringent regulatory oversight. They prioritize ethical business conduct and responsible gaming, stating their online offerings are “a regulated and responsibly managed extension of our operations, designed to complement our primary offerings.” This commitment includes implementing various player protection measures.
Robust Player Protection Measures
These measures include readily available tools such as deposit limits, self-exclusion options, and age verification systems. Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification is completed within 72 hours of user registration. Furthermore, the IRs utilize geo-blocking technology, including geo-fencing and IP filtering, to restrict access to their online platforms to users located within the Philippines, in strict accordance with PAGCOR’s geographical limitations.
All games and gaming equipment undergo rigorous evaluation by PAGCOR before deployment, and promotional materials are subject to review by both the regulator and the Advertising Standards Council. Operational safety measures encompass regular audits, employee licensing, and mandatory annual compliance training for all staff.
Commitment to Transparency and Corporate Social Responsibility
The joint statement highlighted the operators’ proactive approach to maintaining a robust internal framework designed to ensure player protection and operational transparency. Beyond regulatory compliance, the three IRs collectively employ over 30,000 individuals and annually welcome over two million tourists across their four Entertainment City properties. Their commitment extends to broader corporate social responsibility, supporting public welfare initiatives in education, healthcare, and disaster relief efforts.
Recent upgrades to Newport World Resorts’ digital infrastructure, confirmed in May, addressed increasing user demand for online services. This modernization consolidated existing systems, contrary to earlier speculation about the launch of a new application. The parent company, Alliance Global, previously reported that digital gaming now accounts for nearly 50% of total casino revenue in the Philippines, highlighting the significance of the online sector in the country’s gaming landscape.
